Pride on Main 2024 was historic, happy, and healthy for our local LGBTQIA+ community and allies. With a crowd of over 3,000 people in tow, the Haywood County Pride on Main brought visitors to Main Street Waynesville and beyond. As larger-than-life frogs, classic cars, a marching band, roller derby teams, and combat wrestlers took to the streets of downtown Waynesville, 40+ vendors and performing artists were creating a rural pride festival vibe in Frog Level that was unmatched last summer.  Pride weekend ended with a standing-room-only Drag Performance with over 500+ people and a casual garlic bread party with the gays in the park on Sunday afternoon. This historic first Pride Festival for Haywood County was a reminder to native residents that you do not have to move away from your home to find a safe and welcoming community, you can find it right here in your own neighborhood.
